Radishes

by Carla G » Tue Jun 07, 2016 7:04 am

I confess I've only ever eaten radishes raw, in salads. We've grown some very large (baby fist size) red rasishes that seem to be very pithy or woody. These things are seriously tough and not very good raw. Any body have any good recipes for them cooked? Do I grate them? Peel them? Slice them?

I like them sliced in half and roasted.

Considering my woeful abilities in the garden, I don't know why I'm contributing, but.....

I wonder if you harvested earlier when they are smaller, would they be more agreeable?

So I have been told! It would seem we left them in the ground waaaaay too long. I'm just trying to see if I can salvage what we do have. The rest is a lesson for next year! :P

I didn't jump in because I haven't cooked radishes, Carla. But just now I ran across this article from The Kitchn, a food blog I like:
