where to buy shallots?

by Ginger Harris » Sat Mar 06, 2010 5:51 pm

I am interested in buying shallots at a reasonable price- 2 for $2.49 is not. Anyone know where to buy them in bulk? Thanks.

Ginger,

You can buy them in bulk at Creation Gardens. I also think the shallots in a brown paper bag at Meijer are well-priced for cooking- I think they are $3.99 but there's a decent amount of shallots in that bag.

I'm sure I've bought them at the Kroger on Hubbard's Lane.
Creation is always my go to place for hard to find items.

I've seen them in bulk at Krogers and at Fresh Market. Sell by weight.

Burgers Market usually has them... don't recall price offhand, but I know it wasn't crazy expensive or I would have just used onions...

Agree with all the Kroger comments. I really can't imagine any decent store not carrying bulk shallots.

if i'm not mistaken, i think i've seen them peeled in a plastic jug at costco back by the smoked salmon and seafood spreads.

yeah...2 for 2.49 is a rip off!
