Whast's cookin' in your kitchen this lazy Sunday?

by TeriCP » Sun Jan 10, 2010 4:13 pm

I 'm in the cookin' mood and got curious about what others were doing in our humble city.. Trying to make up for all the nights we eat tacos, Stouffer's or take out..

I have a pork tenderloin in a french onion/red wine gravy with celery, pearl onions and mushrooms. Mashed potatoes to go with the gravy I will soon make and lima beans/white corn (what my Germantown roots call succotash)...

Dessert? A frozen pie thawing out in fridge...

I'm celebrating Chinese New Year with homemade Pork & Shrimp dumplings, Beef with Brocolli and Shitake mushrooms in Black bean Garlic sauce, and Jasmine rice.

Teri, you're a lot more ambitious than I am. Fixed a substantial meal last night with stuffed boneless pork loin chops. Too lazy to tackle anything elaborate today. Came home from church this afternoon and put on a pot of chili. Made some excellent corn muffins with whole kernel corn. Nothing fancy but certainly substantial.

Not so much ambitious as hungry for a home cooked meal!! I haven't had time to cook a real meal for several days.....

I am making beef and noodles with the broth from our Christmas standing rib bones and some wide Amish noodles. I have the broth simmering now with some shredded beef and seasonings. Will add the noodles an a bit of thickening later. Have not decided on a side dish yet, maybe some frozen vaggies from my summer stash. :D

Well, everybody's endeavors sound delish! Aren't Sunday dinners great?

We've eaten our dinner and hubbie is pretending to watch sports while snoring.......I must have filled my teen daughter up because she is getting ready to take her shower and put on jammies to do weekend homework....and me.. I'm going to fold the last load of laundry and watch Harry Potter!... A wonderful Sunday evening at home, for sure....

'Night everyone!!!

I'm ashamed to say a frozen Stouffer's spaghetti and meatballs entree which I microwaved and consumed in a two star hotel located under the final approach flight path of the Oklahoma City airport. This was preceded by an appetizer of microwave popcorn and a 6 pack of luke warm Labatt's Blue. For dessert I'm going to wander down the hallway and get another one of those stale Snickers bars out of the vending machine.

<sigh>...on the positive side, it's the tail end of two weeks solid weeks of eating out of a bag. How about we play like ya'll take turns feeding Stevie some home cooked vittles when I get home. Just don't make it "Chicken Fried Steak" or Calf Fries

I didn't see this post earlier. I had friends over for a movie night. Celery Root Soup, Garlic Bread with Parmesan and a big salad with a sherry maple vinaigrette. I was going to make an Apple Tart, but oops-didn't.

i made two big meatloafs (loaves? lol) last monday. i don't get to cook sunday dinner because i'm always working. i bought 4 pounds of meat and tried the meatloaf recipe from pam anderson's book, "the perfect recipe." mom, stepdad and i all had two big hunks and my prego sister-in-law stopped by after class and had her fair share too. she took a big plate home to my brother in meade county and then my bf came over after work and demolished the plate i had put up for him. i made him a lunch to take to work the following day and when all was said and done there were only two slices left of the 4 pound meatloaf! i love cooking for my family, gives me the warm and fuzzies :)
chi mangia bene, viva bene.
