Looking for a candy

by Carla G » Sat Dec 05, 2009 11:20 am

I had a customer come into the store last night looking for a specific candy. I remember the candy from my youth but have no idea where to find them now. They're called "moth balls" or creamed filberts. (NOT to be confused with malted milk balls.) These have a whole filbert in the center covered by a creamy but solid , white sugary texture a crystalized sugar shell on the outside. We used to get them in the candy department at Stewarts years ago. I found them online in a candy store in Bloomington Indiana but was wondering if anyone sold them locally. I already checked Muth's, Dundee and Schimpff's candy stores to no avail. Am I forgetting anyplace local?

Cracker Barrell is a good idea. I'll check there. Thanks Annemarie!

Cracker Barrel is probably the better choice but Hobby Lobby also carries older candy as well.
