Slow Cooker Cookbook?

by Kim H » Sun Nov 29, 2009 9:31 pm

My sister has gotten into using her crock pot/slow cooker, and I'd like to get her a nice recipe book for Christmas. A nice, colored-illustrated book, with interesting, but easy recipes. Does anyone have suggestions?

I've always found the cookbooks put out by Taste of Home to have excellent, easy recipes. Here's one for under $8.

Thanks, Michelle! That would probably be a great option. I've liked most of what I've seen from Taste of Home, and it should fit her needs well. My sister is an extremely busy mom. Great suggestion, thanks!

If anybody's still looking for slow cooker recipes, I ran across this blog.

Ran across this one today on SeriousEats.com. It comes from a cookbook named "Make It Fast, Cook It Slow" by Stephanie O'Dea.

(Pork Roast) Chili Verde

From the article.......
What had started early that morning as a bag of some pork, tomatillos, a can of chiles, a few spoonfuls of herbs, and diced tomatoes and onions was now braised to falling-apart perfection, moist, and intensely flavorful.

Stephanie O'Dea also has a blog, which is what led to the book...her recipes are great and most of them are very simple and can be made from pantry ingredients without buying a lot of special stuff.

I'm sorry, it's not illustrated, but every recipe I've tried is extremly simple. And, I am no chef.
