Where to buy semolina flour

by Charles W. » Tue Oct 27, 2009 2:51 pm

I just got a pasta machine and want to start with the recipe that I learned on. I assume I can get it at Lotsa Pasta, but I've been surprised that none of the Kroger's I've looked at carry it. Any ideas? I live in Schnitzelburg.

If I remember correctly, my neighborhood Kroger had it in the "Natural Foods" section along with other specialty flours and grains (barley, flax, etc.). It was in a small package (maybe 1 lb.), so unit cost was probably high...

I'll try Nuts & Stuff tomorrow. I looked at the Highland Kroger this evening and found oat, rye, rice, spelt, gluten-free, and other varieties, but no durum.

Do try Nuts and Stuff Charles. If you're not familiar with them you'll enjoy the store. And it's locally owned and operated by some very nice folks. I love browsing through their shelves.

Maybe it was Meijer... I forget.

Anyway, I'd definitely try Nuts n' Stuff. I never get a chance to go over there, but love it when I do. My work hours line up perfectly with their business hours (last time I checked, they weren't open on weekends).

Got some Durum flour from Nuts & Stuff--great price--$3 something for 3 lbs. They are open on Saturdays, btw.

Great. Thanks.

Interestingly enough, I couldn't find business hours on their website...

I love Nuts & Stuff! It's great to buy a small quantity of a spice so you can have fresh on hand.

Just bought some in Kroger Natural food area. they are selling a 12-16 oz bag for (clearance) $1.99
With an expiration date of Nov. 20th. I plan to use mine to make a Middle Eastern Citrus semolina cake!

worth it, just to try out the new machine!

Which Kroger? I ended up picking up a couple of bags of Durum from Lotsa Pasta today. I ended up buying a number of things that I wasn't planning on purchasing . . .

That happens every time we go in there. :)
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.
