going to France :)

by Dana McMahan » Wed Sep 16, 2009 7:30 am

Too bad there's not a "good tidings category" as this doesn't necessarily fit here.
I learned this week that I've got a culinary writing residency I applied for. It's two weeks at a culinary center in rural southwest France, Kitchen-at-Camont. http://kitchen-at-camont.com/

I'm super excited -- I'll be learning French cooking, visiting winter markets, farmers, artisan food producers, and writing about it all. I can't wait! One week is a formal program and the second is independent. I need to think of some of the French cooking techniques/dishes that I want to request we cover. Where to even start?? :D

Congrats ! Hope you have a really really good time. We expect a 500 word essay outlining your experiences within 10 days of your return. This will account for 25% of your final grade. Enjoy the trip.

Congrats.
Southwest France? Sounds like you need to do an in depth study of the three traditional cassoulet preparations. And isn't this truffle country? Oh you lucky, lucky lady.

Thanks! I *think* I'm too early for truffles, but you can bet I'll check on that!
