I need your party planning help!

by MichelleS » Wed Sep 09, 2009 2:58 pm

My Grandmother's 90th birthday is coming up and we're throwing her a party! I need your help!

Question # 1: Do you know of any simple, fun party games for 15 to 20 people? Grandma and Grandpa are a little hard of hearing, and mobility is a tiny bit of an issue, but compared with a lot of folks in their 90s they are fit and sharp as tacks. Can you think of anything? Grandparents love to play Wii, but our venue doesn't have a television. :(

Question #2: My aunt is making a cake. I'm sure it will be pretty, but most of us hate cake. Who does some good lighter pies that I could pick up (these pies must be able to travel, so nothing frozen)? Anyplace besides the Pie Kitchen that I should look into?

Question #3: Volare serves a Moscato d'Asti with their desserts that grandma would LOVE. Does anyone know where I can find it locally?

#1 borrow or rent a tv. Doesn't need cable or anything for Wii.

#2 Sweet Surrender would be a good alternative.

#3 I believe that is a common wine. Call major places .. Party Source .. Liquor Barn .. Westport Wine .. Uptown Liquors. If that doesn't work call Barry (bar manager) at Volare and he can tell you the distributor and call them. They will tell you who carries that wine.

i am a big fan of moscato. my aunt brought a bottle to thanksgiving one year and convinced me to try a glass and i have been drinking it ever since. i live in camp taylor, near where trevillian ends at poplar level. there is a liquor store there next to the walgreen's, and i have sent BF up there lots of times to pick me up a bottle of moscato. he says they have it in a few different brands. i guess they might not carry the exact wine that volare serves, but probably something very close. the most we have paid for a large bottle was $13.99 i think. if not, you could always call volare and ask if they purchase theirs locally.

take a tv from home and plug up the wii. all you need is a power outlet and a space large enough to play the games. you could have people form teams and have a tournament with prizes for the highest scores.

baby shower games are usually a lot of fun. if you got creative, you could probably modify them in some way to make them appropriate for your occasion. have fun!

Ha! Sorry Leah. Maybe I like a piece of carrot cake every one in a while, but other that that, I am definitely a pie kinda girl. :D

It may not be on most peoples radar but Thornberry's Bakery out in Iroquis Manor by the Vietnam Kitchen is known for thier pies. Although I haven't had one in years, it was good.
