Who's got cookie cutters?

by Lois Mauk » Sat Jun 27, 2009 1:00 am

I'm looking for someplace local to pick up a couple of 4" apple cookie cutters. I've got one but could really use several more. It's complicated . . . I make air fresheners from plastic "aroma beads" and the cookie cutters are used more or less as molds. I've got a good sized order to make up and I can really speed things up if I have a few more of the big apple cutters.

I've been to Ben Franklin in New Albany and to Hobby Lobby in Clarksville. Both have a pretty good selection, but no apples in the bunch. I can buy more of them on-line, but the shipping is a bear, in spite of the fact that they are so lightweight.

So, the question is: Where in Louisville can one find a big selection of tin cookie cutters? Any recommendations on cake/candy suppliers in town who might have them?

Did you try Campbell's Gourmet Cottage? They might.

Checked all around; couldn't find them locally. Broke down and bought more of them on-line from Foose today. I'll be ready for my friend's next big order for apple-shaped aroma ornaments and won't have to make them one at a time!

Foose is definitely the big supplier online. Did you try Cake Ladies in New Albany? Bryant's in Highview?

Yep, to both local options. No luck. The problem was that I was looking for a pretty specific shape and size. I make "aroma ornaments" from plastic beads and fragrance oil. My friend wanted three dozen of them, 12 in the apple shape. Unfortunately, I only had one of those cutters and had to make those fresheners for her one at a time; took forever. On the other shapes she wanted, I had a half dozen cutters and was able to make 6 at a time; much, much faster production. Since she's a teacher and has already announced she wants more next month, I went ahead and ordered more apples from Foose.

Many thanks for your suggestions though.
