Good tv cooking hosts

While Im glad to a thread ripping Rachael, I thought it might be neat to see who you think are any good now or who was in the past.

I got my start(probably fifth grade) watching Julia on PBS, shes hard to beat in my opinion. In my area that show was followed by Jeff Smith the Frugal Gourmet. I really enjoyed watching that show and learned quite a bit. I recall back in those days they still told you browning meat "sealed" in the juices, but for the most part the info was pretty good. I realize now that Mr. Smith probably would have enjoyed having me around the kitchen,as I guess he had a thing for that. Other guys I remember from the past but never really watched much..Yan Can Cook and Justin Wilson.

Justin Wilson ROCKED...I Garr-on-tee.

Of the Food Network genre, I've always enjoyed Tyler Florence, Sarah Molton and Bobby Flay. Starting to like Guy (DDD) as well.

Graham Kerr, James Barber (Urban Peasant), Jeff Smith, Emeril (Not the "Live" version), Julia Child

When I was a kid I really liked watching The Galloping Gormet. Graham Kerr always looked wasted by the end of the show. Loved The Urban Peasant (RIP James Barber). I learned alot from The Frugal Gormet...I have the early books which are still basically good. Emeril's Live Show sucked but Essence of Emeril is a good show. Julia Child is a classic...I can't wait to see the movie.

Mentioned this in the other thread- but David Rosengarden was amazing, so much research into every dish.
Julia was also an inspiration early on- it was because of her I bought olive oil and mushrooms at 15. Oh- and rabbit.
James Beard was also fun to watch- who knew I'd grow up to look like him? All in all I'd rather look like Julia.

Julia was queen that's a given. Alton Brown , not so much for recipes but for the chemistry aspect of cooking. And, of course, The Two Fat Ladies where you KNOW, at some point in the show, some sort of heavy weight will be involved.

And yet, oddly enough, Sara was one of Julia's assistants for a couple years.

I used to love Sara Moulton, and always found her to be very real. And doing her cooking live show had to be such a challenge. I saw her with Julia Childs, and don't remember anything about her being rude. Did I miss something? In the exchanges/episodes I saw, she (Sara) always seemed to be very respectful, full of admiration, and appreciative of the things she had learned from Julia in years past.

I loved watching Nick Stellino on PBS.

I adore Alton Brown and Mario Batali.

i saw a show once where Sara was cooking ..... it was when Julia was much older and didnt really do the hands on........well......they were mixing something (i really cant remember) using butter......and Julia wanted Sara to use a certain method and Sara just kind of laughed it off and said that it was an antiquated method and there was no need for it...... it wasnt this big huge thing......but....i personally really love Julia and i felt for her in her frailty and age........how what she was saying was being cast aside......

these are just MY opinions.....and how I felt and perceived it......nothing against Sara.....i still watch her.....just not one of my favorites.......
