Yeah, as the thread says, Becky, the Kroger isn't dirty at all now, but the name has stuck. When I tell people that I live in Crescent Hill near the dirty Kroger, they know right where I am talking about.

It has a smaller selection than the other stores, but it also a bit cheaper than St Matthews or Holiday Manor--which are also fairly close. For example, rosemary Triscuits (my food addiction at the moment) are almost a whole dollar cheaper there than they are at the other two stores. It can pay to go to the dirty Kroger or Kroghetto for staples.

When I lived in Crescent Hill, I shopped there all the time for convenience. the grocery manager, Paul, is super nice and manages to get in as many things as are requested from patrons. If the item sells, they keep it on the shelves. For example, 10 years ago when I started shopping there, I was leaving behind my beloved Bardstown Road Kroger and dirty Kroger didn't carry Ken's salad dressings. I requested them and they have been on the shelves since! Now that I live downtown, I find I float between Goss Ave and Clarksville, with Clarksville usually winning out. The reason? They sell LIQUOR!!!! One whole aisle of wine and spirits and cheaper than in KY!!! Southern Indiana is getting a lot of my revenue dollars instead of KY because of our bassackward ways of thinking!
