Kosher for Passover Classic Coke

by Marsha L. » Tue Mar 31, 2009 8:38 am

Hey, I'm trying to locate a few bottles of Kosher for Passover Classic Coke for two friends (and a couple for me!).

It doesn't have to say "kosher for passover" as long as it's the kind that's made with cane sugar (like the ones they serve at the temporary Mexican food stands) instead of HFCS. It's often sold in regular outlets this time of year - I just haven't seen any at the ones I haunt.

If you've seen any, please post it here. Thanks!

I just got some at the Highlands Kroger. They have both a Passover display and some in the regular coke section. Look for the 2-liter bottles with yellow caps.

Marsha, the only way that you will find it if it says "Kosher for Passover", it's the only time it is available.

If you do not find some at Kroger Highlands.... try McMahon plaza on Breckenridge.

The taste difference is amazing!

McMahon Kroger had a ton of them when we were there a few days ago!

I'm not familiar with Passover Coke, and honestly I don't drink very much Coke in general. Should I pick some up to try?

Yeah, Paul - do it, but since you don't drink much coke ALSO pick up a regular bottle of Classic Coke and taste-test them at the same time. You won't believe the difference between the cane sugar sweetening and the HFCS sweetening.

I've read that Passover Classic Coke contains beet root sugar rather than cane sugar, if it makes a difference.

Take that with a grain of salt, since I read it on the internets, and you know they're ALWAYS correct.

I've also read that Pepsi is coming out with something called Pepsi Throwback, that will be made with "natural sugar." It's supposed to be out in the next couple of weeks, and is scheduled to be on the market until June.

I wish companies would go back to sweetening their drinks with sugar. HFCS worries me. That, and it just leaves an AWFUL aftertaste. If Pepsi does release a cane sugar sweetened drink, as much of a Coke girl as I am, I will switch to Pepsi. I'm surprised that companies are still using HFCS. It may be cheap, but they are losing customers.

I looked all over here in Elizabethtown, and still haven't found any to try. I guess I'll have to take a drive to Louisville this weekend.
