Homemade cheesecake.

by Doogy R » Tue Jan 20, 2009 9:55 pm

I have friends from Long Island. Way out in Suffolk. Kathie made cheesecake today. OMG, the REAL deal. Real New York cheesecake. At least I think it is. It is melting upon my tongue as I type. Where can we obtain this in the VILLE? I have been to the Cheesecake Factory and I do like it. I liked what Kathie made much better.

The best NY -style Cheese cake ( but creamier) in town is Desserts by Helen's plain cheesecake. Phenomenal ( and I make an excellent cheesecake). But you have to by the whole cake, not a slice, to get the quality.

Doogy, I can hook you up! I make a mean cheesecake, very traditional NY style. Paul's on Taylorsville Rd. sometimes carries it in the deli section, and you can special order it there (just request the Q&A Sweet Treats cheesecake). I'd also be happy to make you a full cake and deliver it to your door. I haven't found a version I like better, all other cheesecakes taste too processed to me. Give me a call or PM if you'd like to try some!

Hey Andrea, I think I'm gonna be at Son of a Sailor for Lunch tomorrow. Maybe you can come see me and bring along a cheesecake? Hint, hint. Just let me know.

Just a link for people looking for real New York Cheesecake:

http://www.juniorscheesecake.com/

They are located in downtown Brooklyn, near the bridges to Manhatten. I used to work a short distance away from there (Metrotech Center, for anyone who knows the area.) and used to stop in there for cheesecake pretty often. And...when my mother was a youngster growing up in Brooklyn (way before I appeared), she used to work there. :)

Damn...I miss it. Now, I'll have to pull out my credit card and order some.... :(

Enjoy!!

Andrea, I was at Son of a Sailor today and met Steve and picked up the cheesecake you left me. Needless to say, it is fantastic. Thank you so very much. I really wished I could've met you. I want to thank Steve and the lovely lady who took care of my friend and I for a wonderful meal. It was a nice trip out to La Grange today.
