Foods you love that you don't tell your foodie friends about

by MichelleS » Wed Dec 17, 2008 12:38 pm

I love canned tomato soup and green bean casserole. I also really like Geno's pizza rolls (why are they called pizza rolls? they taste nothing like pizza).

My husband likes Vienna sausages on saltines.

My dad adores sh*t on a shingle.

Heinz Chili Sauce. It's really just like ketchup (which I do not have in the house), but tons better, and it makes a wacky secret ingredient in a lot of West China dishes. :)

Campbell's chicken soup with dumplings

Peeps (I can't help myself, and then after only a couple, I'm convinced I'll never eat one ever again)

Twizzlers

When I was a kid, wonder bread with butter and sugar. I imagine that's sort of like a sugar cookie dough, although now it sounds pretty godawful.

So many foods I am a secret fan of. As gross as it sounds, I occasionally enjoy a piece of pickled bologna (blame my MI upbringing and my dad for that one.) I also like fried bologna sandwiches. I love pop tarts, junk cereal (Peanut Butter Crunch!)and occasionally, I prefer milk chocolate *gasp* to dark chocolate.

I am obligated to love sugar cereals since my father is retired from Post and my step-mother is an executive at Kellogg's.

Yeah, you came by that honestly! I have no excuse. I just love the yummy peanut-buttery pellets. And Fruity Pebbles. LOVE them. Funky colored, fruit-ish flavored milk, anyone?

OMG ranch flavored Doritos, the only ranch flavored thing that ever passes my lips...

Captain Crunch Crunchberries Cereal...

That stupid "ham-and-cheese" lunchmeat, with the little cheese dots interspersed in the ham - I'm all alone on this, John won't even touch it...

That trashy broccoli-and-cheese rice casserole made with CHEEZ WHIZ

Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Cakes!

Edited to add: Kraft Dinner with a can of drained tuna and frozen peas. I'm not joking.

I also love that ham and cheese conglomeration! I also like olive loaf. I love the Oatmeal Cream pies, but nothing beats the Swiss Cake rolls! Chocolate coated, sweetened vegetable shortening-filled deliciousness! (my trainer would DIE if he saw this list!)

See, now it never occurred to me that would be something to be ashamed of.... That's like gourmet junk food to me. That and sour cream and onion Lays potato chips, which is to me what I imagine crack cocaine must be to crack cocaine addicts. And which is why I never allow them in the house. They're driving food. Or driving me crazy food.

(Stevie): Beans and Weenies, Canned Chili and Vienna Sausages and Saltines. The latter is particularly good if you are in a boat Walleye fishing in northern Minnesota and you have worm/leech gunk all over your hands...Yummo. Give me the better part of a 12 pack of beer and their isn't much I don't/won't enjoy...with the exception of Lutefisk and Booya (both of which are "Finlander" dishes from MN).

(Becky): "Baloney" sandwiches with processed cheese on white bread, Campbells Bean and Bacon soup and (to reprise Marsha) Mac and Cheese with Tuna and Peas.

Fried bologna sandwiches..........oh another sin. :)

In my home town of Charleston WV, a local staple of bars is Hot Bologna sandwiches. Most keep a large sauce pan at the back of their grill with a 1/2 dozen or so thick slices of bologna perking in hot sauce like Frank's. "Order up" brings a slab out on grill mated up with a fresh white bread bun. Dress it up with a smear of mayo an' sweet onion.....Ohh Baby! :D  :D

I loved Vienna sausages growing up. Braunschweiger is one of my childhood favorites too. Come to think of it...I haven't bought any of that in awhile.

I have recently discovered Campbell's Healthy Select soups: Maryland Style Crab, Italian Wedding, Tequila Lime Chicken, Mexican Tortilla, Beef Vegetable Barley

Stouffer's Garlic Chicken Skillet meal

Healthy Choice frozen dinners (if they are on sale- I'd rather buy a larger quantity and have leftovers)

Toaster Strudels (strawberry cream cheese is my favorite)

Cinnamon Toast Eggo waffles
