Marinara Sauce

by Shane Shaps » Mon Dec 08, 2008 3:40 pm

I have to tell anyone I ever meet about this sauce. I used to live in Chicago and NYC and then I came home to Louisville. Growing up, I always enjoyed a great meal at Mama Grisanti's. When I came home, I found the marinara sauce was just not up to par at the restaurants I frequented. Once Volare opened, I was happy because that restaurant is from Chicago so they knew how to make a mean marinara. I've learned to love Porcini, but I don't order Marinara there. My husband special orders their Vongole, even when it's not on the menu.

But...Lotsa Pasta seriously has THE BEST sauce in town. The one in the back, packaged in cans. I buy cases of these cans. I use their no-par-boil lasagne sheets (all 3 flavors) with their cheeses and make a delicious lasagna. Tonight, I'm making Spaghetti and Meatballs. I literally make the meatballs, open the can, and dump it. I do not "doctor" it up at all. It's the best marinara in town. Seriously. Don't pass it up.

I agree that their sauce at Lotsa Pasta is the best "pre-packaged" sauce I've tasted. I keep 4 cans in the pantry at all times.

I love Come Back Inn's sauce. I've purchased it at both Paul's and Costco.

I'm with Michele on the Comeback Inn sauce. I make my own many times, but that one is outstanding! I was thrilled to find out that they now sell it at Costco too.
