Sriracha?

by Deb Hall » Mon Oct 20, 2008 12:41 pm

Bought some for a recipe and we've found that all of us (except the 4 year old  ) love it!

Anybody have some suggestions for what you use it in/on? Or recipes that really let it shine?

I use it in any dish that I would add any kind of pepper to. It's particular good in chili and rice dishes. Heck, it's even good on sliced tomatoes and eggs. Sometimes I just pour some into a spoon and drink it straight up. Speaking of drinking it, put in the next bloody Mary you make.

My hubby puts it on damn near everything. Eggs, hot dogs, hamburgers, soups, etc. The only thing I haven't seen him eat it on is ice cream.

i got the Siracha bug from the NABC folks, the Kase requires it
and we have customers that don't know what to do without it

An interesting story about Sriracha sauce. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huy_Fong_Foods

I actually have all their products in my humble abode. http://www.huyfong.com/frames/index.htm

Take a slice of good, crusty home baked bread and slather it with butter, sriracha and Mrs. Lil's Tupelo Honey. Yep, it's that good.

I like to cut it with a lil mayo for a turkey sandwich on some ciabatta and a lil dab to dip here and there.

I believe it to be the ultimate all purpose seasoning. I have yet to find anything it doesn't augment. I am making dirty rice with catfish this evening and wanted to up the ante, so I threw in some Jamaican Jerk and Sriracha. As it is simmering, I know it will be sumptuous.

Anything in any cooking implement.

I am just a HUGE fan of the stuff. Just this evening I had some folks over from Suffolk and they LOVED my catfish gumbo kicked up 3 notches with some Jamaican jerk and Sriracha. I actually sent them home with a whole bottle of Sriracha. They had never heard of it but when Mike tasted it he was sold. Lock, stock and barrel.

I never thought of doing that, but oh my God, would that ever be good! I'm trying that on my turkey sammich for lunch tomorrow!

Went to Vietnam Kitchen for dinner last night. The hubby had a little Pho with his Sriracha. Apparently, it was the owner's birthday. He shared his cake.
