Prawn Crackers

by carla griffin » Sun Jul 13, 2008 9:42 am

Just came back from London and these were the table nibbles in many Chinese restaurants instead of those little fried noodle dealies. They are the consistency of a pork rind but are stark white and have a savory taste. They are also addictive. I can't find them here even though they're in all the groceries in London. Anybody know where I can find them here in town?

I'll bet they are at the large Asian market on Preston Hwy. BTW - the name has changed from Du Hau (sp.?)to Viet Hao. We may be going there later today, I'll try to look for them.

I've had them at Basa before. I know I've seen them at asian groceries in the past but I can't recall which one. They were sold uncooked and you fry them at home to puff up.

We saw them last night at Iroquois Valu Market. They had the sour cream and onion ones when we were there. We bought some. Haven't tried them yet. Kinda scared to, lol.
