Herb and Garden Festival and Luncheon
• MORE INFORMATION: Sunnyside Master Gardeners Herb and Garden Festival and herbal luncheon.
• WHERE: Clark County 4-H Center, 9608 Ind. 62, Charlestown.
• WHEN: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• COST/MEMBERSHIP: Event is free. Herbal luncheon, served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., $7.
• DEADLINE/REGISTER: More information, call 812-948-5470.

I went to this event last year and picked up several very nice specimens for excellent prices. I need to run up there to get a replacement for my 5-year-old sage plant that finally bit the dust this Spring. One of the basil plants I picked up at the Culbertson Mansion herb sale has already succumbed to hungry munching insects. I need to get a replacement for that as well.

More info on this event, from http://www.leoweekly.com:
Saturday, June 7

Garden & Herb Fest

Learn from the masters: The Sunnyside Master Garden and Herb Festival on Saturday features various speakers, such as “Farmer Bob” Hill and meteorologist John Belski, who will be giving a presentation called “Weather Lore and Gardening.” The Master Gardeners of Southern Indiana will be preparing a $7 luncheon using local ingredients, and vendors have annuals, herbs, perennials, garden décor, books and fresh-cut flowers for sale. Five local garden stores will each be giving away $25 gift certificates as door prizes, and there will also be an information booth for gardening and lawn care questions. Feel free to bring any disease-infected or insect-infested plant samples for analysis and advice. —Jane Mattingly
