Loose Leaf Tea

Does anyone know of a good location to get loose leaf tea? I have been looking for Lapsang Souchong and have only found the bagged variety at Liquor Barn. Any suggestions?

Leah,

There is an excellent tea shop just over the bridge in Jeff. They are on Hwy 31 I believe: The name is "Jewel's House of Teas". Small, family business: I was told by the owner that almost all of her teas are loose leaf. I'm sure if you called them, they could tell you if they stock that particular tea (or could get it for you).

You might try Nuts-N-Stuff on Preston. If Paul does not have it, he may be able to get it for you.

Try Heine Bros. I don't know for certain about Lapsang Souchong, but they do have a good selection of excellent loose teas, most of them fair-trade.

The Spice Merchant in Chenoweth Square has a large loose leaf tea selection. I don't know about that specific one but it's worth a visit or a call.

Jewell's Teas moved to Eastern Blvd. They said it was a bigger place. I haven't been to the new place yet, but I feel a bubble tea jones coming on! I have a card in my purse (may never see it again! ) with the new address on it. I'll post when I find it.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions. I am sure I can find it in at least one of these locations. I'll try the Spice Merchant first since I was heading to the St. Matthews Wine Shop soon anyway. Thanks for everyone's advice.

Ooh! I can't wait to hear where you find it. I love that tea! I find it is like drinking a campfire, but folks don't respond well to that description of it. I found it in a tea shop near Steamboat Springs, but haven't even tried finding it around here. Isn't it the variety of tea favored by Sherlock Holmes?

I believe you are right about the Sherlock Holmes reference. I have heard it referred to as the "mystery tea" because of this. It was also Winston Churchill's favorite tea as well. I'll let you know what my search turns up.

Made it to the Spice Merchant today. They do have Lapsang Souchong but it is part of a blended tea called Russian Caravan. I'm looking forward to trying it this weekend. I also picked up roasted matte. They have a good selection of teas and a variety of spices at reasonable prices.

I ran into Paul from NutNStuff the other day and he said he has the Lapsang Souchong tea.
