So I got home from Whole Foods and looked over my receipt since it seemed higher than the usual pretty darn high. The very large Sea Bass steak I picked up set me back $40! I usually go to Whole Foods because in spite of the high prices, the quality and freshness are great, and the sourcing is very clearly labeled, with an eye towards showcasing sustainably raised or harvested fish, which is important to me and my family.
My question is, are there any other decent retail sources for seafood, preferably with decent proximity to the Highlands? My Kroger and the Mid City Valu Market are okay, with some occasional deals or really nice fish, but that's more occasional than regular. And it seems like both of those places source fish of dubious origin from China, SE Asia and South America. Been out to Highlands Fish Market and was unimpressed. Have not checked out the Fresh Market (I know you are on here somewhere Fresh Market Seafood guy. . . ) but in general I am not super motivated to drive out to either of their locations. I'm amenable to frozen since pretty much everything in our land-locked location that masquerades as fresh is previously frozen anyway.
