Is there anyplace in Louisville known for Egg Nog? I imagine Whole Foods would carry a good brand but I would prefer local.

I'll admit to a terrible eggnog secret: Borden's. In a can. It doesn't overwhelm with its "nogginess" and lends itself to creative beverage additions. At Kroger, in the aisle with the evaporated milk.

That looks good. Thank you. The reviews were impressive. I will try Ed's suggestion as well as the Southern Comfort. My daughter is coming home from college and is an egg nog nut. We will see which one she prefers. :D

I'll give annemarie's suggestion a hearty "second". It's good stuff. At Krogers no less :D

We can never finish an entire container, so I use it as a french toast base. Make THE best french toast, ever!

Just throw a couple of eggs in with the eggnog, and voila! No need to add anything else, the 'nog is already perfectly spiced!

Michele,

Sounds yummy, but these days I'd only do that with local eggs, too much risk of salmonella with raw industrial eggs. Paul's should have local eggs this time of year...

OMG I never thought of using the eggnog as a batter for french toast. How decadent! We bought the vanilla and the original flavor profile for the SC eggnog. I like the original best so I will use the vanilla for the French toast. Just a couple of eggs and thats it?

That's it! If you think about it, there's already sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, etc. in the eggnog. Nothing else is necessary. My husband HATES eggnog, but he will eat the eggnog french toast any time! A little butter and maple syrup, and you're good to go!

While I don't have an egg nog recipe ( I buy Dean's) , I can offer the following to make truly wonderful eggnog:

I made a batch of this several years ago; gave some as gifts and kept a bottle for me. :D This stuff is great- makes any store-bought egg nog amazing!

Fresh Market sells an eggnog that is unbelievably rich. Can't remember the name, it comes in old fashioned quart bottles. Now i want some!!

Paul's has local eggs year-round nowadays. Chelsea's and Shelby County, as I recall. We like Chelsea's because they're open-dated and you know exactly when they were produced.

I picked up a bottle thought it looked great and put it right back down.
With my coming efforts to lose some of this gut and Colleen being on Weight Watchers, after looking at the nutritional label it was definitely something we don't need around the house.
