Country style pork ribs.....

by Becky M » Tue Nov 02, 2010 11:21 pm

99 cents at meijer....... picked up a couple of packages.

How would these come out with a rub on them? do you even do that with these, as in an overnight rub? I want to bake them in the oven. I have been looking online for some basic recipes for them, but ..........I am in a crabby mood and realized that all of my little rub i make is gone.

I usually cover these in BBq sauce and bake them at 350 for about 1 1/2 hours, then I finish them on the grill for about 15-20 minutes to harden up the sauce. That way you get rid of the grease that comes off of them.

I made them this way this past Sunday as I was feeling quite lazy and just wanted to watch football. These are very easy and delicious!
I trimmed most of the fat off before I put about 2# in the Crock-Pot. Add one can of Dr. Pepper, a small sliced onion and a bottle of whatever BBQ sauce you have.(I used a nice thin vinegary sauce Steve P. gave me) and if you have it, a tablespoon of Liquid Smoke. Add a little water so the meat is almost covered and turn on high for six hours of so. When finished the meat will shred easily and is great on buns with more sauce, sliced red onion and pickles. As a matter of fact, I'm going to eat the rest tonight when I get home from work.

These actually came out really good.

i trimmed up most of the fat off of them (more on that later). Then i cut them into smaller pieces, i wanted them to cook quickly. I seasoned them up and put them on two large baking sheets in the oven at about 400. i had to drain them twice, they let off a lot of liquid. (i guess that is why they work so well in the crockpot) Once cooked, i brushed them with bbq sauce, then slid them back in, i did this about 3 times. They came out sooooo pretty, sticky, and yummy. Mexican rice and puerto rican beans to go with this........ yes that is how we do it in my house, my husband calls me a Heinz 57 lol. It was really a good dinner.

But.......for the record..... ribs these are not.

Now all the fat that i cut from them, i purposely left just a lil bit of meat on some of them. i cut them up small and made some really, really good heartstopping (LITERALLY) chicarrones.

Chill out, they boil in the sauce ... This way I don't have to screw with the smoker, it's quick and easy when you are feeding an army. We are talking shoulder here not pork butts. Haute cuisine it ain't

Better idea, cook them long and slow in a spicy tomato sauce.
