Leftover chicken soup here. It came out pretty good though. I make it with carrots, onions, celery, potatoes, cabbage, and just a bit of squash (grandma's request).... and lots and lots of chicken breast. very welcome and comforting after spending half the night and all morning in the hospital with my lil' boy.

It feels so nice out i am going to throw together some pumpkin or applesauce cake.

We have an out of town guest this week, so tonight I'm cooking a blue cheese stuffed head roast of beef tenderloin, sweet potato and parsnip latkes, baked brown rice and a broccoli salad.

Lasagna (the sauce and pasta being homemade) and some fresh from the oven Eyetalian bread, plus assorted greens salvaged from the garden. Can't wait for dinner.

With a bunch of pals, we built pimento cheese sandwiches, white chili and butternut squash soup for 160 at a luncheon-talk at St. Matthew's today. (Nice to see you there, Gayle! :) )

Tonight it's Dreamcatcher Farm lamb burgers and fresh broccoli for two. ;) Wine: Whole Foods "365" branded Chianti ... curious what quality of generic Chianti they've put in the bottle.

Flatbread pizzas with fig jam. smoked duck , goat cheese and arugula on homemade flatbreads. Yum! Thanks for the idea, Justin!

I used this recipe: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/good ... index.html

It was the first time I've made it, and it turned out great. I upped the basil just a bit. Also, I don't have a mandolin, and so cut the broccoli into long, thin pieces.

They are made with a sour cream pasta dough, and typically filled with sauerkraut or a mixture of mashed potatoes and onions.

My grandparents always made them with mashed potatoes, sharp cheddar and some cinnamon, and then covered them in melted butter. I have no idea where this variation came about, and I doubt that it holds true to the baseline Polish flavors, but my goodness they are good.
