tofu for babies

by Carla G » Wed Sep 29, 2010 6:43 am

I would like to introduce tofu into a 1 year old's diet. Do any of you young mommies have a simple recipe that would be good? I've never cooked tofu at home and haven't a clue where to start. HELP!

<Huge Painful Sigh>...What ya outta be doing is putting some (de-boned) buffalo wings through the food processor and filling their bottle with Budweiser. Builds strong bodies 12 ways.

Perfect!
Thank you Robin that was exactly what I was looking for. When I googled "cooking tofu" I got a million recipes I didn't want to wade through. I should have been more specific in my search.

As for this...

Aside from the beer I actually did consider the chicken thing. I am prepping him for one of your BBQs Steve!

I just pureed silken tofu into whatever fruit or veggie they were eating. Actually, I still do that sometimes, and none are really babies anymore. They particularly liked it mixed with avocado. When they were starting to feed themselves, it made a nice texture for their spoons.

That's a great idea Eliza! It never occurred to me to just add it to something they were already fond of. I tried lightly sauteing it with a bit of chicken stock and he just didn't like the texture. (I wish I had taken a photo of the face he made! Oy!) I bet if I were to add it to bananas and blend it as you suggested he would love it.
Thanks!
