You want (home made) fries with that?

by Steve A » Mon May 31, 2010 11:15 am

I like french fries as much as the other guy, but not enough to put up with the mess created when they're home made. It's much easier to buy them at a restaurant.

That said, this guy has taken fry making to a whole new level.

The real payoff to that article for me was at the end, where it says the guy's an MIT grad. Go figure.

That was a really interesting find! Not a fan of McD's fries, but may have to remember the vinegar step next time I do fries at home!

Lately I've been buying frozen steak fries. Preheat the oven to 450 just like the package directs but I also preheat my 9" cast iron skillet in there with about 1T of oil. Put the fries in the skillet after the oven /skillet has been preheated and the fries are still frozen. Flip fries about 10 minutes into the cooking time then cook another 10 minutes. Perfect wonderful fries!
