i'm a bad, BAD mother.......

by Becky M » Tue Apr 20, 2010 10:14 pm

so we are moving....and packing..... and packing..... and i am trying to save time anywhere i can

well, tonight i fed this to my son: campbell's spaghettios with meatballs

dear God, as i poured the "stuff" from the can into his innocent little Spiderman bowl i was just looking at it and wondering, who feeds this to their children?????

well, popped it in the microwave and 15 seconds later he is eating it. HE LIKED IT!, i'm happy to say he didnt like the "meatballs". but, i don't think he saw it as "food", after a couple of spoonfuls he smiled big and said, "YUMMY SYRUP!" lol

i was wondering why the heck i even had that in the pantry. I remembered that my younger daughter asked for some canned food while we were grocery shopping a while back. i never buy stuff like that, but i don't want her to want it because i dont let her have it........ does that make sense? anyway, i can proudly say that very same daughter made some pasta and brocolli with cheese sauce.......all homemade, and all by herself. (i coached her, but she did it all alone.)

We always pray before eating, and my son's prayer went like this tonight:
"God, thank you for my processed food. i love you God, Amen.

Well Becky I know what you're going through.

Perfect sense. There comes a time when you just want them to eat, eat something for crying out loud!I think involving your daughter in the cooking process as a great idea. I bet you're a wonderful mom!

I still eat Spaghetti-O's and am not ashamed of it.

I have a headcold right now. And you know how you get these weird cravings when you're sick. I was thinking along the lines of Spaghetti-O's or canned ravioli or Hamburger Helper yesterday. Oddly enough, there's no way I would have eaten the stuff as a kid.

Spaghetti-O's and grilled cheese is a common dinner in my apartment.

I grew up eating Spaghetti-O's and even have a Spaghetti-O fork, spoon, and knife with my name engraved on them. Occasionally, I still buy it--I like the original and Doug likes the mystery balls.

I feel your pain! Having a child that has sensory processing problems can be quite a challenge at supper time. I can't tell you how many cheese stick/ or pb& honey dinners he's eaten. Seriously, he eats the same stuff day in and day out. I offer him what I eat, but so far the only thing he likes that I like are french fries  . Thank goodness he likes raisins, green beans, yogurt and applesauce or I'd really feel bad for the not-so-little guy.

My kids won't eat that stuff. They will eat pounds of plain pasta with butter though..............
