My only real dislike is sundried tomatoes, which is funny because I love tomatoes in every other form. I just feel like they ruin a dish with their overly salty flavor.

Overly salty?

They taste sweet to me... (at least when i've made them), dehydration concentrates sugars...

I put vegetables in your desserts, white chocolate with your fish and other nonsense stuff that you think shouldn't make sense, but coax the nonsense into something that makes complete sense in your mouth. Just open your mind, mouth and eat.

I thought the same thing, Jesse - maybe you had an abnormal experience with them. I tend to shy away from them unless I'm cooking with them myself because I find that often people don't reconstitute them correctly, and they're still way too "chewy" and overpoweringly strong because they haven't been rinsed well - maybe that's the kind of thing that happened to you, or maybe you got hold of some over-salted vinaigrette made from SD tomatoes. Give them another chance!

Tofu, offal,(scrapple is okay), it was my job at home to "prep the liver", and Dad would finish off the bacon when he got home from work.
Liver and onions was once in a week in my house growin' up.... my kids do not even know what it looks like... can't do it to them.

My mom had the same, and also hated it. I grew up knowing that I didn't like Liver- cause my mom didn't.

Made me laugh

I'll add cilantro (blech). It's always right next to (and looks just like) flat leaf parsley. I'm always very careful when I pick up a bunch of parsley to make sure I'm not getting its evil twin.

I don't think I am a very picky eater, but I don't like a lot of common foods so I seem that way sometimes.

I hate mayonnaise. I know I eat stuff that has mayonnaise in it, but I don't want to know about it. If I know about it, I won't eat it.
I hate green beans, country or otherwise. Any other bean in the world is yummy.
I hate bell peppers.
I won't eat meat with a bone in it.
No offal.
No cooked tomatoes. I love them raw.
No cooked apples (apple butter is an exception. I love it.).
I love sushi but no uni or monkfish liver.

You guys are killin' me.... And making me hungry.... I've been pondering and pondering, and I can't think of a thing right now that I can't abide. The *thought* of cavier always put me off, just the look of it and knowing what it is, but I've never actually eaten the stuff.... I take that back.... Spam.... But that's not really a food, is it?

Beef liver, although every couple of years I give it the go in hopes I have developed a palate for it... always standing over a garbage can. I have a pretty strong gag reflex and, yes, I'm a screamer. So you can hear me convulsing for a good city block!

My mom used to make us eat liver and onions. :? I'd never subject anyone to that. The smell alone makes me cringe.

I remember right out of high school, I worked in a deli, and all these little old women would come in and ask for a big, thick slab of braunschweiger. I always hated cutting the stuff because it melted all over the slicer blade, and it just smelled awful. The worst part for me was after they paid, you could see them just open the package and bite into that sucker, holding it by the waxed paper. The image makes me ill.

Black licorice is one of my favorite candies.

Black licorice flavor salt water taffy is heaven.

I hope you haters will send it my way.

Add me to the mailing list.... And the liver as well. I didn't like it as a kid, or not a whole lot anyway, but I suspect that had more to do with flawed preparation. Done well, it's wonderful. How about chcken liver? Fried chicken livers are heaven. Or chopped liver (made with a bit of both calves liver and chicken liver) with schmaltz for sandwiches or just by itself. Which reminds me, I have to make some of that soon.

There isn't much in the food realm that I wouldn't eat, and those who have met me have seen the evidence of that.

The only food that really doesn't appeal to me is chicken livers. I remember my mom cooking them up when I was a kid, and the smell was really off-putting.

On the other hand I loves a nice calves' liver, preferably Proivimi. My sweetie does an excellent job of cooking it though she won't eat it.

And one of our favorite chefs once served up a dynamite fois gras ice cream on his chef's menu. You've never tasted anything so rich and smooth!

Well, I don't eat meat, but that's a decision of conscience. I can't get nori past my nose (blargh) and the thought of eating a whole oyster or mussel is just off-putting. Ditto sushi. I just don't get sushi.

Love licorice.

Oh, Leah- you are missing out on one of life's best food groups ( yes, I consider cheesecake it's own, wonderful food group) :)
