Well I wouldn't mind having both, but I want the cherries for a fabulous cheesecake, and I prefer they be brandied. At the same time, a brandy of any variety is always a good thing.

Did you check Williams-Sonoma? Sounds like their kind of thing...

Not locally, which is where I'd prefer to find them, and they don't have them listed on their web site. I did find some places online, though, so I suppose I'll have to go that route.

Isn't rehydrating dried cherries with brandy essentially the same thing? If not then I screwed up a couple recipes.

Mark, use the brandied cherries over a cheese cake. Wunderbar.

This may sound a little strange, but have you tried Liquor Barn? They actually have a pretty good variety of unusual food products (and a nice selection of Kentucky Proud products). In fact I find myself going there more often for the food than the alcohol. I was tentatively going to swing down to the Fern Valley one to pick up a certain hot sauce for a friend, I will try to look for you. I've never seen them there, but then again I've never looked for them either.

Ok, reporting back on my findings: Liquor Barn on Fern Valley did not have any in stock and in fact I was told they haven't gotten any in for a long time due to lack of interest, but.... Jon Palmer, the manager was a great help. He called the other locations and found that neither of the other Louisville stores had any. I mentioned that people from here were searching for them and not only did he know about this site, he said he will be more than glad to get the cherries in asap and have them in stock again. He's calling the home office tomorrow morning to see about having them shipped in as soon as possible and will call me as soon as he has news. :D I told him I would be posting our conversation on here. He also mentioned they will be expanding their already not too small selection of Kentucky Proud products in the coming months.... Now I want to try the cherries out, the idea does sound pretty great! Exactly what quantity would you use them on a cheesecake? I love making different variations but the cherries just by their name sound like they could be a little potent...

Oh as a bonus, I found the Gourmet Garden's Wicked Hot Salsa while I was there! I love that place, off to talk about it in that thread now.

Message got lost....

Anyway, thank you Mandy! You're my new hero.

About quantities on a cheesecake, we just spoon them on after we slice the cake. Add as much or as little as you like (or do it Sally's way -- "When Harry Met Sally") and have them on the side. :D
