Cocos Lokos Caribbean Café

by JustinHammond » Fri Jul 24, 2009 7:46 am

Cocos Lokos Caribbean Café coming soon in the same shopping center as Liquor Barn and Shalimar off Hurstbourne. It is between the China 8 and Dollar Store. I did a web search and can't find any info on a Louisville location, but it looks like it might be a chain.

All I can find is one Coco Loco in Atlanta. I wonder if this is the same place.

The previous tenant, the Sports Attic, didn't last six months. They had pretty good chicken wings and the people who ran it were friendly, but the beer selection was awful. Also, they kept strange hours for a place that was as much a sports bar as it was a restaurant. For instance, they closed before Monday Night football was over.

Cocos Locos is a new restaurant. It's like a copy of Havana Rumba, but not the same food quality. It was created by ex-Havana Rumba servers. They opened last week.

Actually it is Caribbean food, yes Cuba is in the area, but we do not limit ourselves to just cuban we have a variety of dishes from the "Caribbean" unlike Havana rumba. Hopefully everyone comes out to try new fun foods in louisville. I feel the food should leave you with big smile and with the many dishes hopefully everyone will come back for more. This isn't a battle between any other restaurant in town it is an addition to our cities great food

So anyone have a personal experience from there yet? Examples of dishes?

I'm ALWAYS excited at hearing about a new ethnic restaurant.

Does anyone know what their hours are? I can't find it on Google.

I've really missed my Jerk Chicken since A Tast of Jamaica left. Sure hope this joint can come close and maybe produce some fine "patties" as well.
