Sage Indian Restaurant

Forgive me if this is old news and I missed it, but I went to eat lunch there and it was closed. A guy was there who seemed to be doing some kind of remodeling work but didn't know much about the status except the place was not open. Are they remodeling or is it gone? I tried the phone but the mailbox is full.

Looks gone to me, Lonnie. It's looked empty for a couple of weeks now. I posted this within the "Favorite Indian" thread but should have thought to post it as a separate topic.

It was not my favorite, although I liked its short-lived predecessor, Royal India, quite a bit more. No clue as to the future of the space.

Not to nitpick, Nancy, but a couple of questions: First, I missed the "continental" experiment completely, but when we went to Sage, it was definitely different servers: Mr. Balwinder Singh and his wife, whose hospitality had made Royal India a very special place, were not there either time we went, and the servers in place were not rude exactly, but brusque and not particularly helpful. The menu had changed, losing the South Indian stuff and switching over to a very standard Louisville Indian menu ... and the food was very greasy. Also, Mr. Singh had told us that it was related to Kashmir restaurant in Lexington, which he said was unrelated to Kashmir in Louisville. Now, maybe this was all a song and dance and I misunderstood him, but to me there was a very marked loss of quality between Royal India and Sage, in both the front and back of the house.

It was owned by the same people who owned Royal India. Same servers, same management, same menu. Interestingly, Kashmir and Sage have the same owner.
