Slugger Field

by Todd Pharris » Wed Jan 14, 2009 11:16 pm

It's so cold out, let's talk about Spring: Does anyone know what (if anything) will be replacing Browning's at Slugger Field? You'd think team management would want someone in there for next season.

Although I'm sure the mayor is lobbying for TGI Fridays, I hope it's something local.

Rumor is that Brownings is going to be replaced by.... wait for it... Brownings. Hopefully some final news about this will be coming out soon enough

That would be wonderful news, but as long as their brewing continues I'll continue to take a great deal of consolation from that fact.

Hopefully, a local brewmeister will take over the operation. I LOVED going to Browning's for some great beers and good food. Then you top it off with a ballgame at the best minor league field in the nation and life can hardly get much better,
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

Someone posted the other day that Browning's is going to re-open, but without Park Place. But now I think the post was deleted? Not sure, but I can't find it.

I deleted my original post on the other thread. The new potential owners are keeping things quiet until all the financing and paperwork are done, and I want to respect their wishes that things keep quiet until they are ready for a more formal announcement. With that, plans are for the brewing staff to remain the same as the "old" Brownings.

Would that be the same Philistine ballclub management that treats its infield dirt better than the craft beer demographic? I'd look for Kim Jong Il to provide useful advice on de-nuclearization before I'd expect the Bats to belatedly give a damn about Browning's or good beer in general. Just always remember who pays for that big sign out in right field, and you'll grasp the true nature of things. It isn't about consumer demand. It's about captive audiences and inflated concessionaire profits for low common denominator products.

Come back later, and I'll tell you what I really think.

Will Chef Jay Denham be there, too? If not, does anyone know what he is doing these days?

Its not just that way with beer, it's that way with everything they serve.

Roger: I thought you resolved to not be so reserved with your opinion this new year. Let loose and tell us how you really think!
