Ri Ra Irish Pub coming to Fourth Street Live

by Robin Garr » Thu Jul 17, 2008 3:18 pm

News release:

An exciting new place to eat, drink and have fun is coming to Fourth Street Live! later this year. Ri Ra (http://www.rira.com), an Irish restaurant and pub that provides its patrons an authentic Irish experience, is scheduled to open this Fall. Ri Ra will occupy approximately 9,000 square feet on the street level at Fourth Street Live!.

Ri Ra Irish Pub (http://www.rira.com): Ri Ra is constructed from materials salvaged from famous, old pubs. Each pub is unique. Authentic furnishings and appointments are imported directly from Ireland to create a genuine Irish atmosphere where patrons experience the Real Flavour of Ireland. In addition to great classic Irish food and drink, Ri Ra is known for its authentic staff and live music, featuring contemporary local and national performers. The name Ri Ra is derived from the phrase “Ri Ra agus Ruaile Buaile,” which translates roughly as “celebration and good fun.”

“We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to upgrade the Fourth Street Live! offering with such an accomplished operator as Ri Ra,” said Mike Leonard with Hogan Real Estate. “Ri Ra’s commitment to our project is a tremendously positive sign for the health and future of downtown Louisville.”

“We’re truly excited to be coming to Louisville, and especially being a part of Fourth Street Live,” said Ciaran Sheehan, Ri Ra Director & Founder. “We can’t wait to make a lot of new friends in Kentucky.”

In the formerly Felt location.

The C-J just reported that it will indeed replace Felt in the fall. This sounds good but a one-for-one swap does spur any real growth on 4th St. What ever happened to McCormicks and Smick in the Starks Building? Or the new hotel across from the Seelbach?

We already have two true Irish pubs with 'real' Irish working and owning. Not to mention, that the bar and a majority of the wood booths at Molly Malone's were brought over from Ireland. This is an unnecessary addition to our city IMHO.

Wow, It followed me all the way from Charlotte! Did not realize it was a chain! should have known better when I saw all those t-shirts at the host/ess station! They had some of the best wings I ever tasted. No Kidding!

Although, there were not too many Irish staff in the one that I was in.

I think there is enough room for a pub downtown..... after all it is a chain.

We have the authentic/independents right where they need to be .... in the neighborhoods with their kids attending local schools etc! We love Rover and Molly's and always will!

WOW!!! Less than 3 hours from the first mention of this place and its already been tossed under the bus for being a chain. Lets give them a chance to open their doors. Take note of the founders name in Robin's post. Doesnt get more Irish than that.

A good balance of indies and chains (especially when a good amount of them are locally based) is a healthy mix. I look forward to visiting this place. At least it's not a cookie cutter kind of place.
Great food along with great company is truly one of lifes best treasures.

Bravo! I'm posting from Evansville, chain capital of the universe, and there's a Ri Ra here. I really would go check it out if there were time, but there's a reunion to attend.
