Cast Iron Steakhouse in Prospect closes abruptly.

"Dear friends, we are sad to inform you that the Prospect location of Cast Iron Steakhouse has been closed effective immediately. A new developer has purchased many of the surrounding properties, including our location. They have decided not to renew our lease. All gift certificates that have been issued will be honored at the Jeffersonville location. We thank you for all the wonderful years on River Road. Please contact us via Facebook message or at 812-590-2298 if you have any further questions. Thank you."

Just the day before on FB, they posted they were accepting Father's Day reservations.

Thanks for the report, Chris. If I had to guess, I'd guess they got blindsided, and sent out the Father's Day invitations in good faith. The world of business works like that, he said, remembering the sad fate of Allo Spiedo.

You would think however the developer is wouldn't be going to start anything so fast that they would at least let them stay open through Father's Day and maybe the end of the month. It seems that there must be more behind-the-scenes things happening than is being put out to the public. Either bad blood between the parties or???

Sorry to hear this. We didn't get to eat there often, but always had a great meal and service when we did.

Business First talked to one of the restaurant's owners, who said "there were no hard feelings between him and his landlord. The business actually had until August to shut down but staffing had become an issue."

I really did enjoy going there, although we didn't go often.
