Food bucket list

by Adam C » Mon Dec 23, 2013 9:54 am

Anyone else have a list of food or restaurants they sorta HAVE to try before they kick the bucket? A few of mine are:

Primanti Brothers sandwich in Pittsburgh with an Iron City beer.

Pit beef in Baltimore (with a Natty Boh of course).

Muskrat and crab cakes at Findlay's Market in Balitimore

This thing in Charleston, SC:

A fois gras and wine tour of France with my sister.

An Old Style and a polish sausage at Soldier Field.

There's more I just can't remember them. Anyone else? :)

Adam,

My list off the top of my head:
A bakery and wine tour of France with your sister. ( what a blast that would be!)

Eleven Madison Park. We did that one- it's so good it's on my list to do it again

Fresh black truffles- preferably in Italy ( I've still never had them)

Brunch at Prune

Lobster in Maine when they bring it in from the boats ( and something for Brian as he can't eat lobster)

French Laundry

Food trucks in Portland

I've been lucky and managed to tick off quite a few bucket-list food items around the country and around the world, including black truffles in Perigord and white truffles in Alba. I'm still a little light on Asia, though, except for Japan and Down Under. So I guess I've got to put Singapore food stalls and about a week of eating in China on the list!

Robin, putting Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam's food stores would be a much better choice. The small island's choices are just a pale wannabe...

Good point, Looi! Might as well add Hong Kong too, just for giggles ...

Even the food at the Hong Kong airport (excluding McDonald's of course) is better than the hawker stalls in Spore. They are actually very good and would definitely rank the food there as one of the best airport food in the world, not to mention the sheer size of the airport itself.

For Cocktails: Nightjar (lLondon,) Quinary or Ori.Gin (Hong Kong,) or Aviary (Chicago.)

For Cuisine: I'd love to take tours- just rent a car and go.

a) The Med- Start in the Piedmont and work my way through Provence into the Spanish Coast.

b) South America- Veracruz through Rio into Lima.

c) Asia- Start at a farmer's home in Sichuan and just zig-zag all over the place, like some Family Circle cartoon.

Stephen if you hit Veracruz, home of Mexico's most beautiful women, I recommend coffee at Cafe del Portal down by the harbor.

As of today I'm down to only one trappiste brewery to visit... the one down in Austria. I crossed off my last Belgian this afternoon.

I gotta go with this one as well. I love fresh seafood. Last time I was in NYC I coughed up 17 bucks for a lobster roll and I could have eaten 12 of them. I hear they everywhere in Maine. YUUUUM

I also really want to go to The Senate in Cincy, and there are some bbq joints in Texas I would love to hit (don't know the names just saw them on TV). I also hear that the tacos sold in little dive convenient stores in Austin are worth the trip.
