Did Fish Fry House close?

by Rob S » Sat Nov 16, 2013 5:21 pm

THere had been a lot of road construction on Bardstown Road lately and I couldn't tell if the Fish Fry House was still open. Today, I noticed the sign had been boarded up - is it gone? Does anyone know of new plans for the space (the old Diamond Station)?

It is gone. The owner told me it was just to much work to operate this and the one on Outer Loop.
However, it did look like the business was down from the couple of times I have been in there.

No idea of any future plans for the venue.

Thanks Steve. Do you know if Zaytun's was the owner? I'd like to contact someone about the space.

As far as I know, the Fish House and Zaytun are two separate parcels owned by different entities. I can find out details if needed. Just send me a PM and we can connect.

This was the place that created the logo that anyone with less-than-sharp-eyes would assume to be a branch of The Fishery, correct?

Here's what I wrote down about my understanding of it, in a HotBytes/Voice-Tribune article back in February:

“The Fishery has opened a branch in the Highlands!” Actually, not so much. In fact, when this purveyor of fried fish and other fried things changed its name from Blue Lagoon about a year ago, it hoisted a logo that looks an awful lot like The Fishery’s: Same fat serif font, same big F at the start and big Y at the end; the only difference is a little “-f” replacing The Fishery’s little “e” in the middle of the word. Drive out Bardstown just past Kroger and check it out. Chances are it will fool you, too.
In fact, the tenuous connection reportedly goes back to an old franchise agreement for a different location. The similar sign was not exactly welcomed by the original Fishery folks, or so I’m told.
But the argument has apparently abated, as the sign still stands. Live and let live.

Still, it was kind of a pushy move, and makes one wonder if there's just a touch of karma in its departure from the scene. :(

The owner of the business is a man named Sharom (sp). I don't know if he is the owner of the building. He is also the owner of the Fishery Station on Outer Loop close to Old Shepherdsville Rd. You can probably reach him there.

I don't think Sharom owned the building. His son, Remy, is the operator at Zaytun. DD
