That wasn't Howerton, right? It was the guy from Jackson's Organic Coffee. Maybe last name something like Stockton? Last I heard, Chef Howerton was working for a purveyor of high end meats (but this was shortly after he left Corbetts).

But of course, I could be completely confused.

You are correct. Christopher Stockton opened what was then Jackson's Organic Coffee with Sondra Powell. He left for Davola's, she stayed and turned it into Red Hot Roasters. Two nice people, two good spots. I hated to see Davola's close.

Chris Howerton's Facebook page shows him at Michaels Finer Meats & Seafoods. He's a good chef, and I bet he'll turn up at someplace interesting one of these days.

Stockton is the kind Brit- you'll know him when he shakes your hand. He's kind of batting a .1000 in the Louisville Restaurant Scene right now.

Howerton and me go back like Superman Underoos- we were friends before he went to Sullivan. He likes his job and is doing quite well at it. Pulling him back into the business would be a task. Trust me, I've tried.

When you have great friends, you learn from them. One of the coolest things I've heard all year was Howie's explanation of how he would return to the business:

'Steve, I've done [the avante-garde] If I was to return to the business, I would make simple and honest food.'

Anyone know what's going on with the location? I was riding by there today and there were folk in there working on it, looked like it had been pretty well cleared out and they were doing new framing for in the interior.

Wiltshire to add another foodie Mecca.

From the team that brought you Wiltshire Pantry (one of the top rated catering companies in the state) and Wiltshire on Market (a solid favorite in NuLu’s hot restaurant row) is on the verge of another new venue — a retail bakery and café.

The appropriately named Wiltshire Pantry Bakery and Café will be located at what was most recently Joe Davola's (901 Barret Avenue), just down the road from the Lynne’s Paradise Café.

Details:

Opening Date — April 1st

Hours: Tuesday – Sunday 8am – 3pm

Address: 901 Barret Avenue, Louisville, KY. (http://bit.ly/YHK6tC)
