Forgive me if I have missed this somewhere on the forum but I just read a article listing Louisville as one of the top 10 food towns in America. The blurb is from Bon Appetit. We are listed as #5. Hats off to our independents!!!

Here's a link. It's very brief, but hey, good publicity is good publicity. :)

I'm not knocking our great city, just wanted to clarify we weren't competing against the entire country and really don't fit their criteria anyway. Population, no. Small town feel, maybe?

Our criteria:

Small (fewer than 250,000 people) or with a small-town feel, quality farmers' markets, concerned farmers, dedicated food media, first-rate restaurants, talented food artisans, and a community of food lovers. These are the towns where we'd like to go to dinner, and so much more.
"The idea is to eat well and not die from it-for the simple reason that that would be the end of your eating." - Jim Harrison

I don't think Louisville has a Mayberry feel. But compared to larger cities in the United States , even those of the same size as Louisville, I would say we fit criteria of a small-town feel. And we definitely fit the bill on their other "criteria".

Louisville is the biggest small town I've ever been in my life.
