Do you think I can put signs up saying "Do not take what you haven't ordered from the pick up window" and "If the open sign is on then, Yes, I am open" or, "I am not a mind reader - an ice cream cone is not enough information:" I could go on...

I'd like to see a similar sign for loud adults displaying an excessive sense of entitlement. Just sayin' ...

...and aaaaaawaaaaaay we go 8) I so much prefer these straight from the gut kiddie in the restaurant diatribes to some of those other pseudo intellectual dissertations.

My favorite quote in this article was - "I've never seen a restaurant say, don't bring your screaming kids in here," said Ashley Heflin, who is a mom of two. "You can't help it if your kids scream."

Well yes Ashley, yes you can.

If I'm ever in Carolina Beach the Olde Salty restaurant will be my first stop.

Well behaved kids are never an issue, unless you're 14.

Bill,

Nahhhhh...cracking on kids is kewl. It's the geezer thing to do. Things like Fox vs CNN are for 20 or 30 somethings who still think they have all the answers. Hell, I can't even figure out the question anymore much less the answer. :? Geezers rock.

My kid screams in a restaurant or any where else, we're out. Not tolerated. Thus, he's quite well behaved. You just have to remember you are talking to a child, not an adult. Pleading or worse, ignoring, doesn't solve it.

this owner has posted a sign at her restaurant. "SCREAMING CHILDREN WILL NOT BE TOLERATED"
she says so far it's working.

Good.

Everyone hates the misbehaving kid, until the kid is yours. For those who say, "that's never my kid," I think you have, to quote Roger Clemens, "misremembered."

But what the hell do I know? I don't have kids, though I remember being one.

I have a kid. If he's in a position to ruin other peoples experience at a restaurant I'm more than happy to extract ourselves from the situation. People need to think less about themselves and more about how they are affecting other people.

Okay, I tried to say it satirically at the top of this discussion when I responded, "I'd like to see a similar sign for loud adults displaying an excessive sense of entitlement. Just sayin' ..."

But maybe that was too subtle.

Look, folks: We had a long train-wreck of a thread on this very subject within the past month, and I think everyone had their say, and I fear that some parents of small children felt hurt.

Do we really need to keep on repeating ourselves? I think W.C. Fields and others have already been quoted, and I also think some parents who did their best to show us a different point of view are now justifiably feeling ignored.

Do we really have to go through this again?
