Restaurant Supply Store in Louisville?

by Jon Brasher » Sat May 29, 2010 2:05 pm

Does a restaurant supply store exist in Louisville? (Mainly interested in utensils) I was reading in a blog that such a place exists in portland and being mentioned as a "costco for kitchen gadgets". I will attach the blog entry if anyone is interested. http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/2010/ ... ply-store/

The Dine Co., 3110 Preston Highway (between Eastern Parkway and the Watterson), 637-3232.

Great place, carries just about any restaurant tool you could wish, and yes, it's open to the general public. Don't run over today, though. They're only open weekdays.

Chef Supply is on Main st at 15th. That could be what you are referring to.

The owner or employee of a new restaurant supply and grocery, that is very near Dine Co. came in to eat the other day. He informed Susi that they would be much cheaper and carry food supplies as well. That is about all I know. Out. Bill

"The Restaurant Depot" will be opening up here in August as I understand. It is a cross between a supply company that has utensils, equipment, and actual food product.

So the Restaurant Depot sounded interesting. However, when I went to the website, it sells wholesale only. :(

We were told you had to be in the "Business" and possibly join like Sam's Club and such. We will find out soon. I for one am excited though I love Dine Co. I think they are a little overpriced and the only game in town. They buy up all the used equipment in town and resale at what seems very high prices. I wish them all well, just glad to have the competition.

I'm gonna second Chef's Supply. While Dine "used" to be reasonable, alas, they have gotten too big for their britches and pass off their largess on consumers. Honestly, you would be better off buying utensils etc. from GFS or the other big purveyors. Same quality....no gouging. JMHO.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Fetzer Kitchen Supply: http://www.foodservicebuys.com/

They are only open M-F, just like Dine Co. I like their selection. They are conveniently located downtown near Brook and Main.

I saw that also a clearly says you have to have a resellers license to buy anything. Unfortunately many of us do not have one of those.
