I had dinner there a few weeks ago. The best restaurant in the area by a long shot.

The CAFE is CLOSED until further notice due to fire damage

Thank you for your patronage

Sounds like there is some hope.

The news story I read last night (can't remember the source...) said the current location is in a flood plain, so if they decide to reopen, it will be elsewhere. I think there is hope of it to reopen, and the article said it is insured.

No doubt it is in the flood plain. It had been under water more times then I can remember. I heard the building had collapsed, but was hoping my source was wrong and it could be repaired. The website announcement gave me some hope. The building was not in the best shape in the world. The upstairs floor was so screwed up you sat sideways and drywall was pulling away from the walls in a few places. The character of the building was as much a part of the dining experience as the food. I don’t know how a new building will go over.

Looking at the news footage last night, I don't think any part of the building is salvageable...looks like it's about to collapse if it hasn't already.

We never got to try it...if they reopen we'll have to go up there and give it a try.

I'm still in shock. One of the absolute gems on this side of the river.

Best beer list within 25 miles of the area by a long shot. The wife and I used to eat there once a week from 1999 - 2002. So glad we had dinner there a few weeks ago/

This sucks! Gret people/ operators..great food ! Not to mention Lick Creek Band who are awesome, I will miss them on that second floor. Takes me back to the bob holes days with the big farm dinners I used to do with chefs casto ( both) Kathy, Jim G, anoosh etc. Those were great times!! Very sad.

Update: A Crawford County newspaper blurb mentions the owners still have not made a decision about rebuilding. Sounds like it will depend upon the final insurance settlement and their desire, or lack thereof, to start over.
