Tilted Kilt Pub - From the CJ

by Steve P » Tue Apr 13, 2010 7:58 pm

...and awayyyyy we go. :P

From the CJ: Tilted Kilt Pub to open near DuPont

http://www.courier-journal.com/article/ ... ear+DuPont

A Scottish-themed restaurant chain called Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery that bills itself as “the best-lookin’ sports pub you’ve ever seen” plans to open its first Kentucky outlet this summer at a high-traffic site on Dutchmans Lane...The chain based in Tempe, Ariz., opened its first store in Las Vegas six years ago and has 31 restaurants, currently concentrated in the western U.S. and across the Upper Midwest...Tilted Kilt has male bartenders but the wait staff is entirely women in plaid mini-kilt outfits with matching tops and bare midriffs...the restaurant offers casual dining featuring burgers, steaks, seafood, wings and “just about everything” you might consider eating for lunch or dinner. A menu staple is a 10-ounce burger, she said, with most entrees priced from $10 to $12...Despite the Scottish name, the restaurant is intended to be themed in a combined Irish, English, Scottish and American atmosphere,

Good grief between Brick House and this everybody is making runs at Hooters. I don't see where there's much market for any more restaurants in this category.

So does that mean we're going to get Kiltlifter? I believe it's brewed out of Tempe.

Mark,

The barely clad female part of this aside, the part of this opening that evades me is the fact that we already have such a strong "pub" scene in town...The Irish Rover, Brendan's, Flanigan's, O'Shea's, etc...all with a VERY loyal following (and rightfully so). I will grant you that (despite my overall ambivalence places like Brick House and The Tilted Kilt) there will always be a market for such establishments but L'ville certainly doesn't seem like the ideal market...I'm no "marketing guy" (and I don't play one on TV) but it would seem a place like Lexington...or even Cincy would be a more ideal market. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I've sampled some of the Tilted Kilt's beer at the NRA Show's franchisee booth. The brew their own and it's not bad. But the whole formula of the place is very much like Brick House and Hooter's.
If given that many choices for establishments with scantly clad wait-staff, I must admit, I am rather fond of the Tartan plaid skirts and black knee highs worn at Tilted Kilt.

They are aiming for a demographic that's never set foot nor likely would set foot in a local establishment. They are seeking the "hipper" segement of the crowd that frequents Chedders.

Further proof that this irony-allergic country is doomed. About all I can muster to say about this revolting thread is: Death to Chains. There is no "hip" in any meaningful sense for anyone frequenting Cheddars.

Fire away, chainers.

You gotta be kidding me! Have you seen the hips on some of those people who eat at Cheddar's regularly? Oh, wait, you said "hip," never mind ...

So is this where the Ernestos was?

I dunno. My thinking is if it's a kilt it belongs on a man.

Good catch. That was a copy and paste directly from their website.
