102.3 Max had this as a lead story on their news- with a headline that "Employees are worried about not getting their paychecks". I'm extremely sympathetic to the employees at Avalon, but when did this become "news"? When we closed we gave two weeks notice and pay, but many restaurants don't do this- whether because they can't or won't. There has been many a sad story on here about places abruptly closing, leaving staff without work.

Congrats to the staff at Avalon for catching someone's ear- hopefully it was always Steve's plan to pay.

WHAS 11 is reporting that the Derby Museum is suing Steve Clements Catering for "cooking the books" . They say that he was not reporting receipts for the last two years properly. The rent was supposed to include a percentage of the sales.

As always, a lawsuit gives only one side of the case, however this might help explain the closings.

See http://www.courier-journal.com/interact ... g-business for copy of Complaint filed in Jefferson Circuit Court by the Kentucky Derby Museum.

As always, "Claims made in a lawsuit represent only one side of a dispute."

But, if you're interested in the Kentucky Derby Museum's side of the story, follow the link above.
