Tin Roof is a live music venue, and a great time at the Nashville/Lexington locations.

Nice fit for that area, and something different . A regular pub/sportsbar just won't be able to complete w/ Drake's, and to a lessor extent, Molly's.

Gerstle's is really the only optinon currently in that area for live music, so that will work nicely there I believe.

BBC offers live music.
Thinks the frosty mug is the low point in American history.

I enjoyed the Tuesday Pint Nights at Brendan's because it was pretty laid back. I could get there when it started and find a place at the bar; and the burgers and pub grub were pretty good.

I'll withhold judgment until I actually see this Tin Roof place, but it doesn't look like it will be an improvement. I guess St. Matthew's wants to become Lexington West, and I'm not very excited about that.

Also, does anyone know what's going into Dutch's? Some other Lexington bar that wants to expand, maybe?

I was thinking exactly the same thing after looking at it. It certainly isn't going to add anything to the culinary experience in Louisville nor to the bar scene. Looks like one less reason to visit the same as his area for dinner.

I read on Hotbytes that a Flying Saucer was a possibilty. I'd be behind that 100%; I love the one in Nashville. They have about 100 taps, almost all craft, and decent pub grub. They usually have some good, "quirky" bands/musicians.

Flying Saucer and Beer Sellar was solely speculation on my part. Don't buy into it unless you see signs going up.

Well, at the very least they could bring a Ramsey's Diner here...

Brenden's last night was Saturday.

O'Shea family owns that real estate. IMO Tom must have an inked deal w Tin Roof. Can't imagine any other reason to go dark when you are the landlord. I would stay open till I knew there was a deal in place. So all that makes me think he signed something with someone last week. I bet they've already started the work inside.

Mellow Mushroom is rumored to be interested in the Dutch's space.

That would fit the Atlanta-based rumor.

They are a chain, but as a Georgia Tech alum, I have a soft spot for them. I wasnt there early enough to eat at the original (or to see REM playing fraternity parties) but I think they were at TWO locations when I was there, so very early in their chaindom.

I ate at one in Indy a few years back, and it wasnt quite the same (for one thing, the service was better :D ).

That's too bad; I feel like Molly's may have had the biggest impact on their decline in business. Brendan's has been noticeably less crowded in that time span.

They had a decent beer selection and better food than Molly's IMHO. However, the last couple of times I was there at night, the DJ was blasting the music at an obnoxiously high volume. It was extremely difficult to carry on a conversation with the people next to me. In fact, that was the main reason I quit going there.
