New menu at 732 Social

by Dan Thomas » Mon Feb 14, 2011 5:26 pm

We went to 732 Social this weekend before the Kathleen Madigan show and along with some old favorites we tried a couple of the new menu items.
The Sweetbread and Liver was absolutely stellar. The Sweetbreads were perfectly cooked and the Liver had a fine breaded coating that made it resemble chicken fried steak.

The Montecristo is possibly one of the best sandwiches I've ever eaten. Thin sliced country ham with a nice melty cheese I couldn't figure out on grilled bread served with a raspberry coulis. I really hope this stays on the menu through the summer as I can see myself stopping and having one of those and a beer before Bat's games. And I thought it quite the value at 7 bucks.
I love this place!!!!! It's got the kind of stuff I like to eat, with well crafted cocktails, excellent service and a great vibe. :D

We stopped in the other night and tried some of the new dishes and you are right. AHMAZING. Every time I've left the house since then I start creating reasons to change my plans and go here instead to try more new items.

Aw, HELL no. Jayson, you dastardly...dastard - didn't you know I'm on a diet?! Guess we'll have to come this weekend - is it warm enough for sidewalk dining?

We went last night for Valentine's Day, and all was excellent. We stuck to some old favorites (frisee salad and steak frites plus charcuterie), but the table next to us had the tots with cracklins - it looked outstanding, and the other additions looked good on the menu.

I will note that they have moved the entrance from the glass door on the right side of the restaurant (as you're facing it) all the way to the left. This has allowed them to cram a few more tables in, which, in my opinion, isn't a good thing. The food and service were stellar as always, but we felt REALLY jammed in and we are rather small people. It won't deter us from returning often, however.

We also had our V day dinner at 732 last night and we worked our way through a few of the new menu items.

I started with one of the new cocktails, the Ahhhh Peaches, which lived up to my expectations.
We tried the new Hamachi dish, the tots with cracklins, & the pork from the small plates and we both had desserts.
Everything was fantastic of course.
My guess is they moved the entrance due to the cold drafts from the main entry door, although it felt like they jammed a few extra tables in last night for the holiday.

Went in tonight and had the $5 tasting plates, 14 of them I think (hollow leg). What a great way to try some of the menu items and according to the chef in the next week or so they'll be changing daily in accordance with what they are playing around with in the kitchen; which I love. The short rib, collard greens, mussels, and montecristo were the stars of the show. The mussels were the best I've had in Louisville and the montecristo is absolutely killer. The kitchen seat is easily the best place to sit in the restaurant.

Ryan, I appreciate the unfettered level of hedonism that you are able to achieve. The next time I'm in town, we need to hang out.

Damn, first Doc Crow's, now Social. Save some food for the rest of us.

Hah.
I only take off so many days a month (about 4) so when I go eat at a restaurant (especially a new one or one I've previously enjoyed with a new menu) I make sure to hit everything on the menu that I'm interested in, so that the next time I take a day off I can try somewhere else.
I think it all works out in the end, I get to try everything I want, the restaurant gets to take the amount of money they would have made in 3-4 trips from me, and I get to eat somewhere new every time. Just have to make sure I keep the ol' waist line in check.

One beef - no baguette with my mussels. They now have some lavash/cracker bread that's fine - but for a rich steaming bowl of mussel/fennel/white wine essense - I want my Bluedog back. I politley passed on my thoughts to our server - I hope she in turn passed them on. Bring back the baguette!

I prefer the new arrangement with the change of the front door for this time of year.
