Sergio's Louisville Grand Opening Offline

by Paul Mick » Mon Jul 06, 2009 8:06 pm

So unless the date has changed, Sergio's World of Beer should be opening this Wednesday, July 8th at 1605 Story Avenue.

Steve P and I are both interested in an offline, so I decided to go ahead and create an event.

I think 6:30 sounds good, but if the consensus is against that time we can move it. I'm free after 5:15.

Just post here so we can know how many to expect. Any other information you might have about it would also be welcome, especially if you know whether or not they will take debit cards.

Paul, while I share your enthusiasm for the new Sergios(not really,Im bummed they will be moving out of my area) I suggest you reread the press release as to the opening date(last sentence in the PR).

From Sergios website

We’re closing at midnight tonight, June 30th, 2009. We will be on tour searching for more great beers. We will be reopening July 8th, 2009 at 5:00 PM. Please remember to join us for dinner at our Shelbyville Location while we remember our great moments of the past three years. Thanks for all your support. It’s been fun learning about the business, beer, and food with you. As you are aware, we are in the process of moving to a beer emporium in Louisville.
We do not have an ETA to opening our Louisville Location yet, sorry.

And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Ah, thanks John. I was working with the dates listed on the Potable Curmudgeon, which said they open here on Wednesday.

I suppose we'll just have to postpone until their actual opening. I thought that a week seemed like a really short time for the move.

Mary and I are absolutely interested, although our dance card is kind of filling up. We'll be unavailable Aug. 18-20, for one thing.

Mike and I will be there too. Every time we are heading to downtown or Frankfort Ave area, we drive by to check the progress.

What was Dirty Min's??? I believe I've read that it's the former location of Sugar Doe and Greek Paradise, but what else? I dunno...

Jackie, Dirty Min's (actually just plain Min's - people added the "Dirty" like they do with Dirty Kroger - was a long-lived cafeteria in that location. I guess it closed and gave way to a string of short-lived successors in the '90s, maybe.

Tentatively I would like to be in on this, I'm scheduling surgery Monday so I should have a better idea of when I will be available (and how long I will not be allowed alcohol afterward :x )

We're tentatively planning on going to Sergio's next Friday evening. Starting at 6:30 should give people plenty of time to make it. Rest assured though, if you can't be there right at 6:30, we'll most likely be there for quite a while. Feel free to stop by whenever you can make it out.

Here's who I have so far. If you can't make it, let me know.

Paul Mick
Robin & Mary
Roger Baylor
Ellen P & Mike
Jackie R
Mandy R (tentative)
Matthew D
Alan H
Steve P, Becky, & daughter
