Oct. 18 Road Trip offline to Sergio's World Beers

by Robin Garr » Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:45 am

Okay, there's been extensive discussion about this on the Restaurants Forum, with talk of such niceties as arranging for a van and a designated driver to visit this rural temple of barley, malt and hops (and down-home fare) near Shelbyville.

We're looking at a late-afternoon start on Saturday, Oct. 18, and must have firm commitments because of the issues involved with setting up a van. Who's in?

Here's the main forum thread, for details about Sergio's and the preliminary planning:

I am in(Anne also). I will not need to be included in the count for the transport, as I already live out here in the sticks(and have a dd).
The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

Mary and I are in, and will be happy to ride the van if it's available, although if it fills up, I'll bite the bullet and drive - I generally taste more than I drink anyway ...

Once again, do not arrange things around me, but I wouldn't be able to leave work until 2 PM.

Count me in ... and I can be a designated driver as I am not a beer drinker. Just want to check out the place as it sounded absolutely fascinating! :)

Doug and I will be attending with two, possibly three friends in tow. We will be driving separately because I get so motion sick.

OMG, I just saw that they have Kasteel Rouge on draft...my very favorite beer. I must be there! We'll try to arrange for a sitter and meet you up there for a while. Since we're in La Grange, don't worry about us with the carpool.

With great sadness, I am going to have to bow out as I have been called to play for a wedding ... money trumps pleasure every single time ... :(

Spoke with Sergio last night and hes looking forward to the visit. He had asked if there is anything(beer) that he should try to have. Any special requests...anything you might know of thats a challenge to find? They have an interesting website as well. I should be at the Oak St. pizza benefit (DCE)on Thursday if anyone has any questions about Sergios just ask me.

We'll be at PCJS also. Plan to get a smallish keg from the BBC for the game. Maybe APA. Looking forward to breakfast there, the game, and enjoying the evening afterwards with more food, beer, and friends. We'll have to get a few people to go to Sergios on a bye week. We've been, but our friends never have. Have fun. Go Cards.
