Okay - for now, I count 18 spectators:

Tom & Gina, Andrea & Mike, Bob & Carol, Clancy, John H., Richard, Melissa & Tom, Gayle, Doogy, Rebecca, Robin's wife Mary, Linda & Mark, my guy John.

and

Three judges and one host:

Robin
Deb
Suzi
Pierce

That is do-able with 6 sandwiches/dishes cut or divided into quarters (or dollops, or scoops, or what have you). If there's any potential guests lurking, please speak up, in case we need to add another sandwich/dish to our output. Thomas, you said you were bringing your peanut gallery - shouldn't we account for feeding them samples, as well?

Is it polite to chant with your mouth full?

On this day it will be.

Did I mention to y'all that August is National Sandwich Month? 8)

I will also be happy to play photographer, and send the resulting photos to Robin for posting. Perhaps a final shot of all other competitors lift Marsha on their shoulders for a victory lap

Not to diminish the other terrific sandwich wizards, but 'cmon - we ladies have to stick together!

Ok , just got out of the tomatoes, looks like I will be bringing the following in for tasting...Slicers-Vintage Wine,Mountain Spring,Black Japanese,Yellow Peach...Mid size-Bloody Butcher,Glacier...Sausage Type-Orange Banana, yellow roman candle, red sausage...plus an assortment of small fruited salad types(most I cant remember the names). Also if I can find a few ripe ones I will have Polish LInguisa(sausage),Radiator Charlie(slicer)Box car Willie,(slicer)...maybe a few others if I can find em ripe. I was planning on a half dozen each of the large, maybe a dozen each of mid size...does this seem like enough to go around? If not would like notice as soon as possible(see FGT post lol). Thanks, plus my lovely wife will be there to drive me home from BBC tap room after the tasting/challange...

The tall one wants white toast, dry, with nothin' on it.
And the short one wants four whole fried chickens, and a Coke.

I definitely need to bring a couple of gallons of tea. I will bring the cherry I brought to the Book BBQ, since it was such a hit and another flavor to be determined....on the phase of the moon, position of the sun or my mood tomorrow afternoon. Do we need anything else to complete the setup?

I am soooo looking forward to this!! :D :D

Well, My wife will be coming from work and definatly one of my co-workers and 2 other maybes.

BTW, I have 16 tickets however they are not all togeather I have a group of 8 that are togeather first and second row next to the dugout on the first base side(my wife hates these because she fears the screaming foul tip) and a group of four in the Club section behind home plate on the first base side and another group of four directly below on the same side.

So I will be using 2 for my wife and I and the rest I'll earmark for those who would like to go!

Melissa Richards wrote:WOW! I second Clancy's comment - I REALLY need to read the Offline section more! Know that its short notice, but can Tom and I still come? We have our own Bats season tickets, like Robin, but we'd love to join (and sample :-)

I'm happy to bring some dessert, but after the culinary nirvana that was Marsha's Lemon Sunshine cake at Cafe Lou Lou earlier this week - I'm a bit intimidated! I might try and whip out an old family recipe - Graham Cracker Cake. I think it was one of the reasons Tom married me.....

Since Tom is a regular here, I'd say definitely come. Bring something yummy.

I would vote that any late sign-on guests have to queue up at the rear though.

What is that brown one...they make it primarily in Kentucky, down around Bardstown. Lemme think.

Oh yeah, it's called "Bourbon".

I've heard of that. I think we may have a wee bit of 23 year old "barrel sweat" rolling around here.

Just got back in town! While I wont compete I will be there with a fresh baked loaf of my lovely bride's bread for those having bread emergencies. I'll also rustle up another side to go with the sammies. My money is on Marsha! Whose got the pool on this anyway? All bets settled at the end! No need for Bats tickets, either.

Aww, shit - it's on like Donkey Kong! Dan's wife and friends plus Ed and hopefully Cindy means I think I'll add another sandwich or so to my production, making 8 sandwiches x 4 quarters = 32 tastings. 22 guests + 5 competitors plus 3 judges plus 1 host equals 31 portions.

But hey - don't let that stop you. If you're lurking, speak up!

P.S.: John and I just had my entry for dinner. I feel sorry for the four of you other competitors. At the same time, I feel envious of all you judges and guest tasters.

Edit: P.S. Ed and Cindy - please do bring your bread. I am bringing my toaster and some sweet Irish butter, so...even without bacon, we're good to go.

I just hope for the Bats' sake that anyone feels like leaving to go to the game! I suggested to Rebecca that we all repair to the ball park at half time. Yep, I said half time. *Cough*

great, there's no such thing in baseball....

I just finished the base for my dish; Heirloom Tomato Sorbet made with an assortment of John Hagan's heirlooms, BBC Amber (formerly known as Altbier), 12 year old balsamic vinegar, and basil. I'm shooting for a sweet & savory frozen concoction so cross your fingers for me.

All,

I'm ashamed to say I missed the postings over the weekend (I had a good excuse- we had no connectivity at the Lake), so I won't be able to bring a side. I will however bring some smoked sea salt and Fleur de sel to sprinkle over those wonderful tomatoes of John's.

I'm planning to go to the game if there are still tickets. Really looking forward to seeing y'all and tasting your creations.

Holy cannoli, I can't wait for this! I spent much of today making some tasty treats for those who like chocolate with their tomatoes and bacon. What time are we getting together, anyway?

Bats game is probably a no-go for us, we have to make it home to get David & Miles to bed. Sounds like fun though!
