Does anyone else have a portable grill they plan on bringing? David, can I use some of those staves for my grill?

Here's the list of food folks are bringing, I culled these from the posts. I hope I'd didn't miss anyone.

Ed Vermillion Steak Chimichurri and large Greek Salad
Marsha L Jalapeno-pimento deviled eggs and Bourbon Grilled Corn
GaryF Panzanella Salad
carla griffin Fruit or dessert
Andrea E Farmers Market Leftovers :D
Jessica Hardison Something with lots of cheese
David R Pierce Bourbon Barrel Chocolate Cake

It looks like we could use some mains & middles. And some tater salad.

Hey Forumites!

I wanted to give everyone kudos for such a great idea! I wish I could join you, however DH and I will be in San Fran, so we will be eating mightily of all the Bay area has to offer!

Cheers!

My "something else" is Bourbon Grilled Corn - but I'll need some space on some grill somewhere. Did we decide there are no public grills at TH Park? 'Cuz I'm an apartment dweller right now, and don't own a grill (except for the Foreman  )

John and I bought three of our favorite Suess books for the kids: The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins, Bartholomew and the Oobleck, and McElligot's Pool.

I'm getting so excited to get together with everyone. I've been attending math professional development all week so talking about reading is pretty refreshing at this point.

Marsha, those books sound great! Last year, during my student teaching, I organized a family literacy night in honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday so I hold his books close to my heart.

I have a Weber kettle charcoal grill and a bad-ass Charmglow gas grill that was used twice last spring. I don't own anything big enough to haul either, so if someone has a truck I'm willing to help haul.

Marsha, I've always loved Dr. Suess. Google Dr. Suess Quotes for some interesting stuff. My fave:

“Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.”

I'm pretty sure that they have some park grills there but I will confirm tomorrow. I will have some space on our grill so bring whatever. Once I get a fire rolling in that thing stand back. My bride is making a large Greek Salad as a side.

My picks are: Are you my Mother? and Go Dog Go! Plus a few art activity books. Cindy won't tell me her picks but she is excited about them!

I just got back from London and I'm thrilled to see this event take off so well. I'm so excited I can't wait!

As much as it pains me to say it I'm not a big beer fan. I did drink a few drams of gin and a few pints of British hard cidar however.

Hi Everyone,

I'm not going to be able to bring the potato salad now. It turns out that I will be out of town (last-minute trip) and won't be back in Louisville until late on the 19th. I'm so sorry to back out this late in the game, but I'm betting that there will be lots of great food and mine won't be missed. I'll still make arrangements to get Jessica the books and look forward to meeting everyone at the next offline event. Hope the BBQ/Bookdrive turns out to be a huge success!

Since there won't be any potato salad, I'll bring my cheesy and very fattening hashbrown casserole. I'll be happy to bring a main too. Just let me know.

Need to find out what Tom, Gina and Suzi B are planning on bringing, maybe some mains?

For anyone following along who cannot make it to the BBQ: I will volunteer to pick up books, or any other thoughtful offering, starting the 18th. Just use my regular email fireradio@bellsouth.net for contact info and I would be glad to stop by and pick up. That seems like a great way to start my vacation!
