Louisville Hotbytes Forum BBQ & Book Drive July 20th @ 1PM

by Ed Vermillion » Tue Jun 03, 2008 4:27 pm

Fellow forumite Jessica Hardison will start teaching Kindergarden class in Jefferson County this coming fall. She has asked for some help in putting some appropriate books together for the class. In the spirit of our online family how about a BBQ Book Drive to help her kick things off? Please pick a date below or propose a different one. I just threw these Saturdays out there because I happen to be off duty those days :D

Sunday July 20th

1:00 PM
Cardinal Harbour Pavilion
Across from the intersection of Cardinal Harbour Road & Oriole Place

Bring your grill and cook or supply a tasty addition to the festivities.

Also bring along a book that you enjoyed as a child to pass along to Jessica's class!

What say you, Forumites?

Here's the list of food folks are bringing, I culled these from the posts. I hope I'd didn't miss anyone.

Ed Vermillion Steak Chimichurri and large Greek Salad
Marsha L Jalapeno-pimento deviled eggs and Bourbon Grilled Corn
Leann C Tater Salad
GaryF Panzanella Salad
carla griffin Fruit or dessert
Andrea E Farmers Market Leftovers :D
Jessica Hardison Something with lots of cheese
David R Pierce Bourbon Barrel Chocolate Cake

It looks like we could use some mains & middles.

We'll definitely try to attend. Depends upon the final date selected. I'll bring potato salad & perhaps Jonathan Livingston Seagull.

Edit: I just noticed it is a kindergarten class. JLS is probably not appropriate. I'll find something else good.

What a great idea, Ed! We certainly want to support it. No kids around here and no kids books, but we'll gladly buy a couple to pay our way in. Any of those dates will work for us, but I'm least happy with June 28 because I have an event on the 29th already.

What a great idea Ed! I'd prefer the July date since I'll be out of town earlier.
Oooooh goody! Like I need another excuse to go book shopping!

OK.....failing to look at the master calendar is a bad thing. June is out for me. May we pick one of the July spots? Either is good here.

I'm truly blessed to have found such wonderful and supportive friends that have never even met me. Thank you all so much! Don't let me forget to have everyone sign up for career day!

Any of the days listed will work for me.

Great idea Ed. :)

Gina and I will attend. Either July date would be fine.

We'll bring appropriate books and a dish.

In order to give everyone ample time to schedule, how about Saturday, July 19, 2008 at 1:00 PM in Thurman Hutchins Park?

Looking forward to the Panzanella Salad, Gary!

I plan on doing Steak Chimichurri on the grill.

Hope to see alot of you there!

That sounds great to me Ed. I'll bring some dessert or fruit (cause trust me, you don't want me to cook.) And of course books books books for the babies.

Ed,

Brian and I will attend. Either July date would be fine.

We'll bring appropriate books (but we'll probably have to buy them-our four year old is still using our old ones) and a dish. Let me know what you think we need:
Side or dessert or?

Really we are all just stalkers not the selfless, community spirited people you think we are!

Just kidding. I'm in for any date and while I can't bring any of my product I'll bring the next best thing: Bourbon Barrel Stout Chocolate cake with Belgian chocolate/bourbon ganache icing. And books.

Jessica, do you need art and general classroom supplies as well?
