Vegan Pitch In

by JKVetter » Sat Apr 12, 2008 12:28 pm

I would like to organize a vegan pitch-in, just to be able to meet other people with like minded thoughts about food and try other people's recipes. I am in Southern Indiana and I have a foodblog online. http://foodblog.jkvetter.com

If you are interested in participating in a vegan pitch-in, let me know.

Thanks.

Jackie, are you limiting your field to actively practicing vegans, or would omnivores who have a serious interest in vegetarian/vegan cookery as a periodic alternative be welcome?

Absolutely, all periodic alternative vegan/vegetarians are welcome! You just have to bring a vegan dish! I would really like to meet more people in this area of Southern Indiana and Louisville, so what a better way than to get together around food? Please, you do not have to be vegan or vegetarian to attend, and I promise the food will be out of this world!

With regards to "bring a vegan dish." How strictly are we defining "vegan?" I know there are some vegans out there who are what I would consider extreme (as in don't eat anything that casts a shadow, extreme). Is it safe to assume as long as the dishes are limited to plants and plant products we are safe? I'm total omnivore, but I've got some great vegan stuff I'd love to share!

Yes, plant or plant products, just no animal products. We'd love to have you share!

Jackie, I would love to be involved. I have a great recipe for vegan cornbread (ground flax seed and water for the "eggs", and soy milk and vinegar for "buttermilk").

Sorry, I've been out of town for a couple of days. Yum, that sounds wonderful! I have some recipes I can't wait to share too! I wish there were more people who wanted to be involved, but we'll start small, and let it grow! :)

I'm looking for a location to have our pitch in and I'll let you know where and get some ideas of what dates would be good. :)

Have a Wonderful Sunday!

The BBC Tap Room is always an option and our beer is vegan.
